ENTRY
SALARY:
The
entry-level salary for applicants without experience is approximately $18,000
per year. Applicants will receive pay increases at the completion of the
various phases of training. The Communication Officer's must attend and pass
the Basic Communication Officer Class held at the Georgia Public Safety
Training Center in Forsyth within 6 months of hiring. They must also
demonstrate the ability to perform the various positions during on-the-job
training.
Employees will be paid bi-weekly on the Friday following the pay period.
EMPLOYEE BENEFITS:
Employees will be provided with paid annual, holiday, and sick leave based on
years of service. Employees will receive Health Insurance and Retirement
benefits.
WORKING HOURS:
The
Middle Flint Regional E911 Center will be in operation 7 days a week, 24
hours a day, and 365 days a year. Communications Officers will be workings
shifts covering all 24 hours of the day, weekends, and holidays. Shifts can
last 8 hours, 10 hours or 12 hours a day. The current shift structure is 12
hours shift with a shift swap every three months. Shifts run from 6 to 6
either days or nights. Trainees swap shifts every six weeks to work with
different trainers. The shift schedule can be changed with short notice to
meet the needs of the center. Every effort will be made to provide enough
notice for employees to make arrangements.
SELECTION PROCESS:
Due to
the important nature of the profession of Emergency Communications, the
Middle Flint Regional E911 Center is making every effort to hire the best
people for the positions.
PHASE 1:
PRE-QUAILFING TESTING
All
parties interested in becoming Communications Officers must take
pre-qualification tests including a computerize skills test, essay questions
and a self awareness questionnaire. The Middle Flint Regional 911 Center
utilizes the Criticall system to test applicants on the skills relevant to
their job functions.
Applicants must call the Middle Flint Regional 911 Center Administrative Line
to set up an appointment for testing. The testing will last approximately
two hours. The applicant will fill out their application upon successfully
passing the test. The passing score is 80% on the test and at least 3500
KPH (keystrokes per hour)
Applicants who fall under the minimum score will not be considered for
appointment. They may retake the test in thirty days and must contact the
Center if they desire to retake the test.
PHASE
2: ORAL INTERVIEWS
Interviews will be held at the center and will last approximately 15
minutes. Interviews will be handled by members of the training team. The top
candidates will proceed in the interview process.
PHASE 3:
TWO OBSERVATION PERIODS
Applicants will observe the on duty Communication Officers twice for at least
two hours each time in order to make an informed decision regarding the
position. The applicant will actually plug in with the Officers to hear the
actual phone calls and dispatch of real incidents. All information the
Applicant is exposed to should be considered private and not for discussion
outside the Center.
PHASE 4: BACKGROUND CHECKS
Background checks consisting of Criminal, Driver, and Employment Histories
will be conducted on all remaining applicants. Any applicant with felony
charges or habitual violator convictions will be eliminated from the
selection process.
PHASE
5: INTERVIEW PANEL
Applicants will attend a 2nd Oral Interview with a panel made up
of Supervisors and Administration staff. This interview will last
approximately 30 minutes.
PHASE
6: FINAL SELECTION
The
applicants who successfully complete all previous phases will be issued a
conditional job offer pending the successful completion of a medical, drug,
and psychological tests.
